Character Development of Captain America AKA Steve Rogers

Captain America is one of the most immensely popular headliners of Avengers who are now out as they have played their roles to the core and to a change. Their characters have witnessed a great change when compared to their initial selves in earlier movies.

Let's take Captain America, he is the first avenger whose boyhood dream was to fight world war and bullying too. He was a lean, weak boy who could not get into enlisting himself into the army and he tries again and again by changing his identity and state domicile. His fortune begins to shine when a fine scientist working on a secret armed project, choose him as a sole subject, of course for his moral traits and respect for power because he lacks it. The scientist creates a serum to transform a human being to the peak abilities of the human race and perhaps, more. Steve is an American patriot shaped by his contemporary times where world war was a big issue. His revival was marked with the complete bafflement because it is not an easily digestible fact for one if he is told that he slept for 70 years and his own time is long gone.

This new world, where all his notions regarding nations, security and its modus operandi are challenged. In the first Avengers movie, his character seems not too strong, neither he didn't hold clout among fellow Avengers in the later movies. He seems ignorant and apprehensive of technology. But his character has a trait of righteousness In that movie, we note that he has not yet understood the advanced world facing unique challenges.

His maturity period begins in Captain America: Winter soldier where he faces an intense enemy in the disguised Bucky, his only friend in his youth. It is a dilemma for him to fight his friend who is programmed to finish his missions as an assassin controlled by Hydra handlers. Steve is hesitant in killing Bucky for he believes it's not Bucky himself who is committed to wrongdoings, he is just being used. Captain, stubborn on his choice to save Bucky led to the tussle between Tony and him. Another movie where we look at his growing character is Captain America: Civil War, in fact, it is not an avenger movie but the third part of Captain America. His differentiated choice from Tony is a thoughtful subject dealt in very few superheroes movie. Captain knows the Sokovia Accords are not enough, it can only become a hurdle later for Avengers. He follows his heart which doesn't consider it as a solution to save the earth. But his decision to hide the secret behind Tony's parents' death and to not sign the accords strains his friendship with Tony.

One of the reasons Avengers were easily defeated by Thanos was because of their own issues and discords within the group. Captain knew he did a great deal of injustice to Tony by not telling him of his parents' death. But he is of the conviction that Bucky didn't kill them voluntarily. Besides, his total disbelief in Accords parts his ways with Tony. The advent of Thanos on earth exacerbates the rift between Tony and Steve. After being saved by Captain Marvell and brought back on earth, he didn't want to see Steve and call him words because he believed that if Steve'd signed the accords, half of the population wouldn't have to die. After that, they travel to Thanos place and kill him for nothing as he had already eliminated the stones with its own power. As they say, time heals wounds, Tony sheds his differences after five years and collaborate again with the team. While retrieving stones from past, Tony and Steve work as a team.

Steve's highest point for the fans come when he lifts the Mjolnir. It shows that he is the only person besides Thor who is "worthy". We got the taste of his worthiness in Age of Ultron but he didn't lift the hammer owing to his respect for Thor. But he could do it then.

If we talk about Steve's romantic side, we have known his eternal love for Peggy but his fate played him down and she grew old and he attend her funeral with grief. She lived her life and here remains Steve, still young and alien to the modern world. It doesn't seem bad at the end of Endgame when he returns back to Peggy for dance and for life after finishing his chores of putting all stones back to their usual place and time.

To conclude, we can say that Steve is built of morality, character and will power. He relies on his intuition rather than observation. He is not a science freak but also he doesn't denounce technology. His old fashioned way is adoring just as we love Tony Stark's genius and fashionable features.
